Independence!
Well, I missed a week of posting, so I have a lot to catch you up on!
Alex went on his first trip away from home and parents and Isabella got into a wading pool for the first time last Monday. Isabella LOVED the water! Alex's Farmor and Farfar (Erik's parents) took him overnight to Eskilstuna to the zoo. He had a wonderful time. When it was time for him to go to bed he was a little sad and wanted to go home to "Mommy and Poppy (that is what he calls Erik a lot of the time)". He finally went to sleep, and slept well. But the next morning he didn't want to go home anymore. So, he really only misses home when it is time to go to sleep. Atleast I know that he does miss me at times. I was a little worried because he never wants to go home. He always wants to go places. I guess he is like his Mommy. I was always that way. I liked being away, and Luke was the homebody. So, I thought maybe Isabella would be our homebody....That wasn't the case! She stayed away for the night this past Saturday night along with Alex. It was her first night to stay away from Mommy the entire night, and she and Alex stayed with Farmor and Farfar. She didn't have any problem and I think that they all had a really great time!
Erik and I went out for our 6th wedding anniversary in Stockholm. It was really nice to have the night together. We had forgotten what it was like to be alone before children entered the picture. We went to the Old Town in Stockholm that afternoon. We walked around, got ice cream in a homemade waffle cone, took a drink at a hotel bar where you could sit out by the street and look out over the Baltic sea and cruise ships, then we ate dinner at Järntorgspumpen (translation: the town square's iron pump). (I highlighted iron because for the sixth wedding anniversary your gift should be in iron. So, I thought that was pretty neat.) For our gifts we got each other the night out and we bought a waffle iron. We have both wanted one! Needless to say we had waffles on Sunday! Of course the children were still on our minds that night. So, we brought them a little something back. Alex got a Djurgården IF (Erik and Alex's soccer team from Stockholm) symbol to go on his Crocs and Isabella got an attachment with a little animal and her name on it to hook on the zipper of her jackets, etc. When we returned Erik's parents had left a bottle of REAL champagne for us on our steps, and it was chilled! That was a nice surprise! We had a wonderful and memorable evening, but it was nice to be with Alex and Bella again on Sunday, and back to the chaos!
